Dr. Van de Velde
Dr. Van de Velde
As a child, I hated going to the dentist! You could say I became a dentist as a form of self-defense—but in truth, I chose this profession because I fell in love with its unique blend of science, art, and human connection. There’s something truly special about helping someone regain their function and confidence through a healthy, radiant smile.
I completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA and earned my dental degree from Tufts University. I bring over 40 years of experience to my work and have had the privilege of leading Lunada Bay Dental for the past 15 years. In that time, I’ve built a practice grounded in clinical excellence and compassionate care.
I embrace the latest technologies, including digital intraoral scanners, same-day crown milling, and innovative water laser therapy, to ensure precise, comfortable, and effective treatments. I strive to make every visit gentle, personal, and empowering—because I know from experience how intimidating dentistry can feel.
Outside the office, I love adventure and the outdoors. I spend my free time hiking, scuba diving, skiing, and flying—yes, I’m also a private pilot! Whether in the air or in the operatory, I’m always seeking new ways to explore, grow, and bring joy into people’s lives.
Get to Know Dr. Jason Gong
I come from a family of physicians, but it was the hands-on aspect of dentistry that truly captured my interest. It’s the perfect blend of engineering, design, and patient care-- all things I'm passionate about. After receiving my undergraduate and dental education at UCLA, I completed a rigorous residency at a Level 1 Trauma Center, where I gained invaluable experience with dental emergencies and complex cases.
Today, I’m especially focused on modern restorative techniques, like same-day crowns using advanced milling technology and cosmetic bondings that allow me to rejuvenate smiles without ever putting a drill to the natural tooth! I’ve also brought dental implant placement to the practice, allowing patients to receive all the care they need right here in Lunada Bay.
After spending a decade in West LA, I met my wife-- a lifelong South Bay resident. Once I experienced the quieter, more relaxed pace of life here, it didn’t take long for us to realize this was where we wanted to plant our roots and build a life together. When I’m not talking teeth, you can find me spending time with my wife Michelle and our little boy Eli!
It’s incredibly inspiring to see the trust Dr. Van De Velde has built with her patients here at Lunada Bay Dental. I’m honored and excited to join the team and continue that tradition of excellence, compassion, and community.
